Whatever happened to Ted Williams, the man with the “Golden Voice” whose instant rise to fame this January quickly drove him back to substance abuse? Here’s one answer: apparently he is being given his own reality show. Unfortunately, both the show and the media mention nothing about Ted continuing treatment.
From Ted to Lindsay Lohan to Charlie Sheen, we hear about so many celebrities and other notable personalities when they are experiencing a moment of crisis – a fight, a relapse, an angry outburst – during their battle with addiction. Then they quickly disappear from the public radar. The world loses sight of the next steps they take (or don’t take) along their recovery journeys. Hopefully, individuals struggling with substance abuse recognize that there are significant pieces missing from media stories like Ted’s. Substance abuse doesn’t just disappear, and treatment – not TV stardom – is the key to recovery.Back to Index
