Women’s Day at Phoenix House

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

On Wednesday, March 30, we celebrated Women’s History Month with a special event at our Phoenix House Career Academy in Brooklyn, NY. This year’s theme was “Our History is Our Strength,” and nearly 100 female clients and staff from our programs in Brooklyn, Long Island City, Ronkonkoma, and Yorktown came to honor the important women in their lives. The day’s entertainment included music, dramatic readings, and performances of original essays and poetry—many clients paid special tribute to the directors and clinicians who have made a difference in their recovery. Special guest speakers included: Traci Donnelly, NY Regional Director; Deni Carise, Chief Clinical Officer; Marian Gordon, Phoenix House Class of 1973; and Najah Rahmann of the Dedica Group. It was an uplifting day of creativity, inspiration, and celebration.
