What We Are Thankful for This Year at Phoenix House Los Angeles

Monday, December 1st, 2014

Thanksgiving provides us with the opportunity to pause for a moment and reflect on all that we are thankful for. As the atmosphere enlivens with excitement for Thanksgiving, we asked some clients and staff from Phoenix House in Venice and Los Angeles what they are thankful for. Here is what they expressed:

Our Clients:
“I’m thankful for being here and being sober, for the skills I learned at Phoenix House: cooking and leadership, being a good example to peers, and communication skills.”
“I’m thankful that the judge gave me an opportunity to do this program. I’m thankful that I’m sober and not on the streets. I’m thankful for having food and a roof over my head. I’m thankful for the staff here, they really care for you here.”

“I’m thankful for my health, for my family’s support despite their disappointment in me. I’m thankful that my dad has a job and that my needs are being met here.”

Our Staff:

“Despite challenging work in stressful situations, I am not alone. I have a team to rely on in tough circumstances. I am grateful for them.”
Dr. David Richardson, VP, Corrections and Rehabilitation Services

“I am thankful for my life, health, kids, and family. I wake up every day and remind myself of what I’m thankful for.”
Gigi Honorato, IT/Electronic Health Records Trainer

“I’m thankful for my family, my job, and for God. On Thanksgiving I look forward to being with the clients, enjoying their day, and having dinner with family.”
