‘Vocal Majority’ Encourages Students at the Hill A. Feinberg Academy in Dallas

Monday, December 29th, 2014

This holiday season our male students, staff, and Phoenix House Board Chairman Hill A. Feinberg, received a real treat when the award winning men’s choir, Vocal Majority, visited the Hill A. Feinberg Academy in Dallas to share favorite holiday songs.

We were given the opportunity to witness the students being genuinely grateful that these 30 men cared for them and came to sing for them. It was clear as the performance went on that the boys appreciation for the singers grew and soon enough they began singing along with the songs that they know so well. Between songs, chorus members shared their hopes that the boys become healthy and sober. Other men shared their own personal struggles, or recovery stories of a family member or friend. The students were touched that even people who did not know them, and had no direct reason to care, in fact did.

In a residential substance abuse treatment setting, the holidays bring about many new challenges but it is experiences such as the Vocal Majority visit to share joy that help our students get into the holiday spirit. With such care and support, along with deliberate activities planned with family, our students are able to maintain focus on their recovery while finding joy and contentment during their time at the Phoenix House Texas Academies. Our treatment program as a whole will benefit our students throughout this holiday season by teaching them, as well as their families, new coping skills that will lead to success in the future.

Every day, Phoenix House Texas helps adolescents and adults who are suffering from addiction in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. Find out more about our programs and services, or call us today at: 888 671 9392.
