Murrays Present Award to Kuttler

On Thursday, May 3, Phoenix Houses of Florida presented the Triumph for Teens Award to Carl M. Kuttler, Jr., J.D., in recognition of his outstanding contributions of the fields of education and substance abuse treatment and prevention.

Dr. Kuttler, former President of St. Petersburg College, is internationally known as an educator par excellence, whose entrepreneurial approach has had a positive impact on teaching and learning worldwide.  He is also highly respected in this country and beyond for his tireless efforts to combat drug trafficking.

John Wilson, News Anchor, Fox 13/WTVT-TV, served as Master of Ceremonies at the Luncheon which was co-chaired by R. Michael Murray and his father, Raymond E. Murray, and their wives.  More than 200 guests were in attendance, helping to raise more than $53,000 for the support and continued  growth of Phoenix House’s adolescent treatment and education programs in the Tampa-St. Petersburg region.  Among the attendees were a number of distinguished business, academic, and civic leaders, including The Honorable Bob Martinez, former Governor of Florida and national Drug Czar in the 1990s, State Senators Jack Latvala and Dennis Jones.  In addition, numerous heads of government agencies, corporations, and businesses throughout the region joined in honoring Dr. Kuttler and celebrating Phoenix House.
