As summer is just round the corner and school will be closed, lots of fun outdoor activities were planned for our teens in treatment at the Boys Recovery Lodge, a program at Phoenix Houses of the Mid-Atlantic that serves adolescents experiencing problems due to their use of alcohol and/or other substances.
Through fun activities such as hiking, swimming, volleyball, biking, paddling, gymnasium games, and walking our teen clients at Phoenix Houses of the Mid-Atlantic will be able to de-stress, gain more emotional and physical strength in their long journey to recovery, and improve the overall quality of their lives.
Many educational trips have been planned, and will be relatively local to maximize the time our teen clients are walking and participating. Clients will have a chance to visit historical locations like Mount Vernon, the Arlington Cemetery, the Marine Corps Museum, ride the canal boats at Great Falls, MD and hike the Billy Goat Trail, or tour the Pentagon. After these trips they will have discussions and have a chance to share their experiences.
Clients who stay back will watch movies, play games, or spend some time doing art projects and treatment work.
Even though school at the Girls Recovery Lodge program is year-round girl teen clients in treatment will participate in some of these outdoor activities as well: fresh air, sunlight and physical activities are in fact very beneficial for individuals struggling with addiction and mental health illness, as they help restore the balance to the mind and body.
The Boys and Girls Recovery Lodges provide at-risk youth with the substance abuse and mental health services they need while their families can get support through weekly concerned-persons meetings. We also provide an individualized and accredited high school academic program so our 14-17 year old clients have every opportunity to get their lives back on track.
Every day, Phoenix Houses of the Mid-Atlantic helps at-risk youth who are suffering from addiction in Virginia, Maryland and DC. Find out more about our programs and services, or call us today at: 1 888 671 9392.
