Wednesday, April 13th, 2016

Runners croppedLace up your sneakers and join us on Saturday, May 21, for the eighth annual Phoenix House Runs and Walks! The Phoenix House Exeter Campus, located at 251 Main Street, Exeter, RI 02822, will be the venue for this exhilarating celebration of life and health, which offers the choice of a 3K (1.8 mile) walk, a 5K (3.1-mile) run, and an obstacle course. Proceeds from the event support the efforts of Phoenix House New England to save lives threatened by the opioid addiction epidemic.

If you’re feeling more inclined to enjoy indoor exercise (or if the weather is less than ideal), there will be demonstrations of yoga, aerobics, and other healthy activities in the gym, as well as fun activities for the younger set. The Healthy Living Fair will feature information on a wide variety of important topics, including substance abuse awareness, domestic abuse prevention, and many other wellness topics. A barbecue lunch with live music by The Recovery All Stars will provide time to refuel and relax, while a silent auction and raffle gives everyone a chance at great prizes. All festivities are open to the public.

Generously underwritten by Ursillo, Teitz & Ritch, Ltd., Stop & Shop, and other prominent area corporations, the registration fee is $25 per participant, $10 additional family members. Children under 12 are free.  For more information, please call 401 331 4250, extension 3210.

Phoenix House Runs and Walks! supports Phoenix House’s full range of programs in Rhode Island, from medically monitored withdrawal and step-down services, to residential treatment for adult men and women, outpatient services, and recovery housing for those in the early stages of sobriety.
