Recovery Month and Candlelight Vigil in Orange County

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Orange County Register logoOn Tuesday, the 13th of September 2011, Phoenix House Orange County held its first annual Candlelight Vigil. The event helped residents, alumni, and community members celebrate the memories of those they lost to drugs and alcohol. The event, held on the front lawn in front of the historic Mission-style Phoenix House building in Santa Ana, was filled with heartfelt emotions and an enriched sense of community. Over 200 people attended and shared numerous powerful stories and feelings. We hope to be able to do it again next year. For more information, please read the article in the Orange County Register.

Phoenix House continues to celebrate the National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month in September. Other events are scheduled for the remainder of the month:

  • On Wednesday, the 21st of September at 1 p.m., Poetry Reading will be held at the Orange County Santa Ana facility, featuring with clients writing and reading poems, and following that event will be a balloon release. Clients will individualize their balloons with notes about their commitment to recovery, or in memoriam of a loss if they so choose.
