While most of us are preparing to come to work, client teams from Phoenix House Community Residence at Prospect Place are enjoying their morning running regimens with our friends from Back On My Feet New York City, gaining ground on a healthier future.
Back On My Feet is a non-profit that assists organizations across New York City, in addition to our clients, with employment, housing referrals, and assimilation to the workforce after completing treatment. Their mission is to use running to change the way those experiencing homelessness see themselves and to create self-sufficiency. Members obtain successful independence through employment, job training, and housing with corporate and community support. Our clients have participated in runs in Manhattan and Brooklyn, as well as relay races and yoga sessions. Running groups, solo exercise, and social events are great for camaraderie and healthy exercise; keep running and stay healthy!
The Phoenix House Community Residence at Prospect Place provides short-term residential substance abuse treatment for men. We offer clients a safe foundation as they develop the life skills necessary for successful re-entry to the community. Our staff and clinicians deliver compassionate care based on the needs identified in each client’s treatment plan. Phoenix House clients who have completed a significant stay in one of our intensive residential programs, but are not yet prepared for independent living, may enter our Community Residence program. We also admit referrals from other community-based treatment providers, employee assistance programs, and health maintenance organizations.
