Drug rehab clients of Phoenix House New York celebrate Women's Day

Our annual Women’s History Month was celebrated with a very special event at the Phoenix House Career Academy in Brooklyn. This year’s theme was “Women From All Walks of Life – You Can Be Anything You Want To Be.”

Over one hundred female clients from across our New York substance abuse treatment programs joined to celebrate during this day of reflection and inspiration with staff. They traveled from Phoenix House Brentwood Campus, Phoenix House Long Island City Center, Phoenix House Jack Aron Center, Phoenix House Lake Ronkonkoma Campus, Phoenix House Springfield Gardens Mental Health Community Residence, and Phoenix House Academy of Westchester to bond, make new friends, share life experiences before and during treatment, and life’s lessons from their shared journeys in recovery. Through the power of their poetry, essays, skits, dances, and musical performances, our clients celebrated their womanhood and strength.

It was a thoroughly uplifting day of inspiration, creativity, and joy, as in past year’s celebrations; though this year possessed a higher level of energy and passion. Our clients’ happiness spread to the streets outside the facility, as many ladies were still singing as they were waiting for their transportation back to their residential facilities! We congratulate them on their creativity, energy, and powerful commitment to recovery, and look forward to next year’s celebration!
