More than twenty representatives of Phoenix Houses of New England were on hand at the University of New Hampshire on October 14, to receive the 2011 New Futures Advocacy Award. New Futures is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization with whom Phoenix House collaborated during New Hampshire’s recent legislative session to advocate for funding on behalf of substance abuse and behavioral health providers statewide. Phoenix House staff and clients, both adolescents and adults, participated in a comprehensive effort to ensure the continuation of funding for treatment and services critical to recovery and long-term sobriety maintenance. Volunteer efforts included participation in a variety of public relations and media efforts-from a post card campaign to providing testimony at legislative hearings and on social media outlets.
