Phoenix House Springfield Gardens Mental Health Community Residence Clients Visit The Cyclones

Monday, August 12th, 2013

It was a great day in the park for clients from the Phoenix House Springfield Gardens Mental Health Community Residence as they traveled to see the Brooklyn Cyclones play baseball at MCU Park. It was also NYPD night at the ballpark, with twenty-five police officers from their home precincts throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Sandy the Seagull, the Cyclones mascot was also in the house, entertaining spectators. Field trips are a change of scenery for our clients in treatment; these sober recreational activities are a wonderful way to enjoy the company of friends and spend the remainder of our summer days.

Phoenix House’s Springfield Gardens Mental Health Community Residence serves individuals struggling with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. Our program provides comprehensive treatment within a safe, structured, and supportive living environment; focusing on stabilizing acute symptoms of mental illness and helping our clients develop the skills necessary to lead healthy, drug-free lives. We address daily living skills, symptom management, and reintegration into the community.
