Phoenix House PROS staff & clients at the NA Convention 2013

Phoenix House PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) staff and clients attended the Narcotics Anonymous World Convention at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. More than 17,000 attendees in recovery gathered in person or remotely to share stories celebrating sobriety. This event also marked the 60th Anniversary of Narcotics Anonymous. Various seminars and recovery workshops were held with participants dialing or logging in from Australia, Brazil, France, India, Iran, Iceland, and many other countries.

The World Clean Time Countdown event drew more than 10,000 participants and began with a request for those who have been sober for 50 years to stand. These courageous individuals were applauded as the countdown continued all the way down through the years, to those who haven’t used drugs for a year, a month, and a week–all greeted with loud cheers of support. Our clients enjoyed the opportunity to hear speakers from Russia, Kenya, and other regions in person during the presentations. They all returned home filled with stories of their meaningful experience. The World Clean Time Countdown was a life-changing memory that our clients will never forget; they were proud to participate and show the public that addiction can be overcome.

Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program, located at Phoenix House Brentwood Campus, is a flexible, recovery-oriented outpatient mental health program for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, most of whom also have substance abuse disorders. We offer a safe, supportive base in the community where clients can receive treatment services and engage in goal-oriented rehabilitation.
