Baseball season is in full swing in major league baseball (MLB) and also for the Phoenix House Career Academy Jay Street Bombers and the Phoenix House Long Island City Center Firebirds of the New York City TCA (Therapeutic Community Association) League. Our client athletes enjoy the rush of team sports and the opportunity, whether on the field or in the stands spectating – to be teammates on the road to recovery. They are serious competitors whether they’re meeting for practice or on the weekends to play other local teams We look forward to our teams swinging for the fences and aspiring to compete in the playoffs and championship rounds.
The Phoenix House Career Academy is an adult business and trade school accredited by the New York City Department of Education. The Career Academy is an innovative model of accelerated treatment with a fully operational vocational school on site; it is considered one of Brooklyn’s most successful vocational programs. Our residential substance abuse treatment program provides treatment services for men, using an evidence-based approach to addiction treatment and a strength-based, holistic view of recovery. Phoenix House Long Island City Center’s Men’s Program provides substance abuse treatment involving individual and group counseling as well as the evidence-based therapeutic interventions that address specific client needs. The program provides comprehensive treatment within a safe, structured, and supportive living environment.
