phoenix house staff volunteer drug take-back day

The ninth annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day was held at over 5,000 sites across the United States on September 27th. Lisa Finn and Alison Siegel of the Phoenix House Resource Center Smithtown were on hand in Merrick, NY for the event – collecting expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications with members of the Nassau County Police Dept. Every car that drove through also received information on Phoenix House’s services. We are proud to help educate our local communities about the potential for abuse of medications.

Assessments, substance abuse education, prevention services, and awareness are top priorities for Phoenix House New York’s Community Outreach and Resource Center staff, in addition to promoting our life-saving programs to those in need. We are spreading the word across New York’s boroughs and counties about our short and long-term residential programs, outpatient, and detoxification programs.

For more than 45 years, Phoenix House has been helping adults and adolescents find the road to recovery. Our treatment programs are CARF-accredited and include the full continuum of evidence-based services.
