Phoenix House San Diego participates in annual recovery celebrations sponsored by the county and including both live and “online” activities.

On Saturday, the 10th of September, San Diego County held its annual Recovery Happens! – Afternoon Health Fair Celebration in Balboa Park. Sponsored by the San Diego County’s Alcohol and Drug Services, the event featured a number of activities, presentations, concerts. Numerous providers and clients came together to celebrate; activities included balloon animals, an all-Veteran band, etc.

Susan Bower, Deputy Director for Alcohol and Drug Services, expressed her thanks to all participants helping “plan and participate in our best Recovery Happens event yet! The commitment and dedication of all of our providers and community made this event a true success!” The county is still collecting recovery stories and a video from the event is available on YouTube.

Another San Diego County recovery celebration worthy of notice is the All Month Long – “Expressions of Recovery” on County of San Diego Website. Client stories and poems have been published on the County Website and continue to being gathered for future postings. If you want to submit your story, contact San Diego County.
