Phoenix House AmeriCorps volunteers attended the second annual Sober St. Patrick’s Day® celebration at Regis High School in New York City. This event is a sober alternative for the community to enjoy singers, dancers, storytellers, and celebrate in the true spirit and tradition of Irish culture. Many family-friendly, alcohol-free, recovery welcoming events similar to this are spreading in popularity for citizens to enjoy across the city and the nation, this is a healthy trend.
Phoenix House AmeriCorps volunteers covering the New York City area embark on many endeavors: city beautification efforts, local food banks, soup kitchens, and various food and clothing drives in the community. Volunteers also help out at our substance abuse treatment facilities and at sober recreational events with our clients. While working at Phoenix House, volunteers learn about substance abuse and alcohol treatment and prevention at our residential and outpatient facilities. Our volunteers are always at the ready to give back to the community and help others in need.

I would like to give back in the community my time and share my helps with others who are in need through Americorps volunteers.
