Phoenix House Academy of Long Island drug rehab students enjoy recreation at the 5k Run

Students from Phoenix House Academy of Long Island recently joined the Katy’s Courage 5k road race in Sag Harbor, marking the beginning of the running season and summer activities on the east end. Over 1,200 participants joined the race, to benefit pediatric cancer research and high school scholarship programs.

While residing at our Academy to receive substance abuse treatment, our students enjoy many activities promoting healthy fitness habits and sober recreation. Our programs include yoga, meditation, exercise, and nutritional awareness – providing students with a positive outlet for energy and improved mental health, as well as team building skills. Fitness and strength help build self-esteem and confidence – powerful tools in decreasing stress, and promoting emotional and social well-being.

Phoenix House Academy of Long Island, located on Long Island’s East End, serves adolescent males who are struggling with substance abuse. Our Academy model is designed to help young clients prepare for productive, self-sufficient, and drug-free lives. Residents complete treatment while taking part in the Academy’s fully accredited on-site academic program, which allows clients to catch up on their studies or earn credit toward their high school diplomas.
