Phoenix House New York was proud to participate in the Nassau County Health, Fitness & Sports Expo at Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, New York on August 9. This annual event offers health care information and sports and fitness activities in an effort to promote healthy lifestyles. Phoenix House’s Shawn Mason, New York Business Development Manager, was on hand to represent our organization and answer questions about our various treatment programs in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Among the many tables and exhibitors offering information and referrals, former New York Mets pitcher Dwight Gooden spoke about his struggles with addiction, The New York Cosmos hosted a free soccer clinic, and Narcan trainings were also offered to attendees. The expo was sponsored by Winthrop-University Hospital, K98.3, the PGA Tour Superstore, Health Plus, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, NuHealth, Medytox, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Blu Chip Marketing, Hofstra University, the New York Cosmos, St. Francis Hospital, and PinkTie.org.
Substance abuse education, prevention services, and awareness are top priorities for Phoenix House New York’s Business Development team in addition to promoting our life-saving programs to those in need. We are proud participants in the “Building a Healthier Nassau” movement, as we spread the word about our short and long-term residential programs in Brentwood, Hauppauge, and Lake Ronkonkoma.
