phoenix house resource center hosts opiate education forumPhoenix House Resource Center Smithtown‘s Lisa Finn, LCSW, CASAC and Alison Siegel, LCSW hosted the latest in a series of opiate awareness forums at the Long Beach Public Library to discuss the prescription drug and heroin epidemic facing our communities locally and nationally. Lisa and Alison presented an overview on opiates, with Paula Serani-Esposito, LCSW of Nassau County Department of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities Services Employee Assistance Program providing the forum with a brief Narcan overview.

The forum was free to all attendees in an effort to meet and discuss how we can protect our children, families, and friends from the dangers of opiate addiction. In addition to outlining the dangers of opiates, signs of addiction, and what to look for when a friend or family member is in trouble, local community resources were shared. We are proud to serve and educate our community as we host these important evenings of awareness throughout the Long Island area.
