Phoenix House’s Norwig Debye-Saxinger, Vice President of Government Affairs, Public Policy and Licensing, was awarded the Commissioner’s Lifetime Achievement Award by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services at the 13th Annual Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State (ASAP) Conference on October 31st.
OASAS Commissioner Arlene González-Sánchez, who presented Norwig’s award, noted that he had been selected by an overwhelming vote to receive the honor. Norwig graciously accepted, with a promise to continue his vital work to ensure that substance abuse treatment remains a priority in New York State.
For over nineteen years, Norwig has served Phoenix House as an esteemed expert in government affairs, policy, and planning; he is also the President of the Therapeutic Community Association of New York, a post he has held since 2008. We salute Norwig for this recent achievement, and are proud to have him on our team!
