Staff and clients from Phoenix House Brentwood Campus and Phoenix House Jack Aron Center Military Services programs marched the parade route celebrating our nation’s bravest at the 95th Annual New York City Veterans Day Parade in Manhattan. Our group marched up Fifth Avenue with thousands of heroes, including former soldiers, active military units, and six military hero dog teams. The parade in New York City is the largest in the country, with over 600,000 spectators. This year’s parade kicked off with the ceremonial laying of a wreath in Madison Square Park at 11:11 a.m., commemorating the end of World War I on the 11th hour or the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. The holiday commemorates a time for service members to unite and reflect, and for the public to honor their duty, from past to present. We are truly honored to participate once again at this important annual event and look forward to next year.
