The Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic Medical Team is growing. The team consists of Dr. Patrick Correnty (Medical Director), Dr. Mary Lee (Psychiatrist), Dr. Jamuna Raju (Psychiatrist), Susan Spies, Family Nurse Practitioner, and now, five Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic is currently in the process of recruiting a candidate for the role of a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Now that the team of LPNs has grown, they are able to provide 24-hour medical coverage to the clients of the Phoenix Program and Boys Recovery Lodge. As the team continues to grow, the goal is to expand coverage to have LPNs at all programs 24 hours a day.
The LPN team members come from diverse backgrounds with experience in substance abuse, corrections, medical/hospital settings, and acute care facilities. All possess a license and maintain their credentials through continuing education credits as well as internal Phoenix House trainings such as: Calm Every Storm, CPR, and First Aid. The primary role of the LPN is to administer medication to clients. Second to that responsibility, they triage any medical complaints that clients may have and assess for appropriate level of care. What a great contribution to the team and a healing resource for our clients.
Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic’s nationally accredited programs provide residential, transitional, and outpatient treatment with gender-specific programs available for both adults and adolescents. Also available is a Spanish-speaking men’s residential program.
