phoenix house client helps god's love we deliver

Raymond, a client from Phoenix House Men’s Residential Program in Long Island City is proud to perform local community service during his time in treatment. He is one of many volunteers for God’s Love We Deliver, delivering food to men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses. “It feels great to be able to give back and help others,” Raymond says. “Community service makes me realize how many people are in need of basic necessities. It helps me have a better outlook on life and builds my self-esteem.”

An important step for clients in treatment and recovery is successful reintegration back into their communities. For more than 15 years, our clients have worked to assist God’s Love We Deliver; we are grateful for the opportunity to help them reach the families they serve.

Our Long Island City Center’s Men’s Program provides services and substance abuse treatment, individual and group counseling, as well as evidence-based therapeutic interventions that address specific client needs, allowing clients to redefine who they are while addressing views on manhood/rites of passage. Our Women’s Program provides innovative substance abuse treatment services to female clients using evidenced-based practices. Our program offers an array of vital services and our staff is trained to meet the unique needs of women, including those who struggle with co-occurring mental health problems. We also provide medical services and vocational support, as well as recreational programming.
