Recently, Steven, an alumni of Phoenix House Brentwood with 15 years of successful recovery and sobriety, produced a local “Ride for Recovery” benefit to raise awareness about the heroin and drug epidemic on Long Island. The event, designed to benefit Phoenix House’s programs, united motorcycle enthusiasts of all ages and machines of all sizes to journey from Renegade Classics in Deer Park to Gullhaven Golf Club for a carnival with rides, games, food vendors, bike show, and live music. Clients from Phoenix House Brentwood Community Residence attended the carnival, and Julia Floyd-Ventura, vice president, director of mental health and military services programs accepted the donation. We salute Steve’s resolve and generosity in his effort to give back to Phoenix House. As a former client, he strongly promotes recovery and truly cares about educating the community.
