As waves crashed and the sun set behind us, more than 450 Phoenix House supporters gathered for our annual Summer Party in the Hamptons. Honoring Elie Tahari and Julie and Bruce Menin for their incredible contributions to the New York community, guests came together at the oceanfront Southampton estate of Margie and Michael Loeb. Hosted by Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford and Royal Pain’s Mark Feuerstein, it was a magnificent evening in support of Phoenix House’s treatment, education, and prevention programs in East Hampton and Wainscott.
A testament to Phoenix House’s impact on the young people we serve, one of our young clients from the Phoenix House Academy of Long Island courageously shared his story of addiction to heroin and his process of recovery. Before coming to Phoenix House, he had given up hope, his life was in disarray, and his relationships with his parents and loved ones were severely strained. Phoenix House, he said, taught him how to live his life without drugs, restoring his hope and enthusiasm for his future. His parents, standing in front of him and snapping his picture as he spoke, beamed with pride.
After closing remarks from Honorary Chairperson Charlie Walk, Donna D’Cruz took over the turntables to spin. Guests filled the dance floor, celebrating the generosity of our honorees and the achievements of the thousands of men, women, and teenagers who seek our help and guidance on their road to recovery. Our deepest thanks to everyone who supported and attended the event!
