Columnist Alan Peppard of the Dallas Morning News published an article on Monday, March 21, 2011 highlighting the 2011 Triumph for Teens Luncheon Honoring Paul M. Bass Jr.
“George W. Bush needs to clear out the guest room. The head of the Florida branch of that old Greenwich, Conn., firm Bush & Sons, is coming to Dallas. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will be here to give the keynote address at the May 13 Triumph for Teens Luncheon benefiting Phoenix Houses of Texas at the Fairmont Hotel.
As co-chairs of the event, PlainsCapital Bank founder Alan White and his wife, Lee Ann, have lined up some big-name and big-dollar support to honor their late friend and Dallas civic leader Paul M. Bass Jr. Founded in 1967, Phoenix House is the nation’s leading provider of drug abuse treatment, and Bass served on it executive board for seven years.
To get the ball rolling, billionaire philanthropists Annette and Harold Simmons have given $250,000 to Phoenix House in honor of Bass. The luncheon also happens to fall on Harold Simmons’ birthday.”
