Honoring our Veterans in Need

Saturday, March 8th, 2014

Phoenix House New England and the Rhode Island Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence (RICAODD) are proud to announce the opening of Honor House, a permanent sober housing facility designated exclusively for male veterans of the United States military.

Honor House occupies a one-family, four-bedroom house in Pawtucket, R.I.  Veterans in early recovery from alcohol or drug abuse who have completed a stay at one of RICAODD’s recovery houses (or who have been substance-free for six months) are eligible for permanent housing at Honor House.  Residents pay a modest monthly rent, which covers all utilities, including cable and Internet access.  The house is located near a bus line and within easy walking distance of employment opportunities.

A dedicated case manager helps clients continue to develop both short- and long-term goals focused on: building and maintaining sobriety; receiving medical, mental health, and substance abuse treatment; securing employment if applicable; and reconnecting with family and friends.  Along the way, each client is fully supported by Phoenix House’s continuum of care and is able to be immediately re-admitted to treatment if necessary.

Honor House joins a number of recovery houses in Rhode Island operated by RICAODD, all of which are dedicated to providing a safe, sober and affordable living environment for individuals recovering from alcohol and/or drug addiction.  RICAODD has been in existence for more than 44 years and – in addition to providing recovery housing services – operates a 24-hour helpline for those seeking treatment for addiction.

Phoenix House Rhode Island provides a full range of services for adults and adolescents with drinking or drug problems.  Services include medically monitored detoxification, residential and outpatient treatment, education and prevention services, gender-specific treatment for women, temporary shelter for adolescents, and case management for court-involved adolescents at the Rhode Island Juvenile Drug Court.

If you know someone who needs help with a substance abuse problem, please call Phoenix House today at 1 888 671 9392. We are here to help.
