Grease recently played at Phoenix House Citra Center! In a creative team-building exercise, clients in the Women’s Residential Program recently held a party and dance based on the 1971 Broadway musical, and subsequently highly successful movie, Grease. Clients enjoyed exploring together the ’50s subculture depicted in the film. Rock and roll music was played, costumes were worn that replicated the movie’s iconic characters, and everyone bonded in a fun, entertaining, and spirited way. The women worked on the event together and had fun in recovery–an opportunity to be creative and carefree without the use of drugs and/or alcohol.
The Women’s Residential Program at Citra uses gender-specific services and evidence-based practices that are woman centered and trauma informed to help women recover from substance abuse. Individualized treatment protocols and treatment stays are formulated according to the needs of each woman and her family.
