Phoenix House Mid‐Atlantic was proud to celebrate the graduation of five of its staff members from the Phoenix Institute. The Institute, started in 2006 as the Vanguard Academy, meets once a month at the Phoenix House Counseling Center to provide a training experience for staff on updated practices in the field.
The Phoenix Institute was established to provide a training opportunity for staff whom the management believe show leadership potential, thus encouraging them to become excellent clinicians.
“The program is a huge value to our employees,” said Patricia Schneeman, Phoenix House Mid‐Atlantic Clinical Director for Outpatient Programs, Compliance and Training, “and the feedback we continue to get from the students is fantastic.”
Staff asked to attend the Institute are selected by program directors and approved by the executive team to attend once a month for approximately a year. Once selected staff members have completed all 12 sessions, they become part of the Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic Learning Community and are often called upon to give back to the next Institute.
The program has been a huge success over the past seven years; one of the five recent Institute graduates commented, “It is an honor to be chosen to participate in the Institute; it has been a great benefit.”
