Gold and Ochre Persian

Dale Chihuly Gold and Ochre Glass Persian Lip, circa 2002

Renowned glass sculptor Dale Chihuly donated one of his pieces in support of Phoenix House Academy at Westchester’s Hoving Family Cloister Garden. Heritage Auctions will include the donated piece in their live and online Lalique and Art Glass Auction on November 19, 2011. The live auction will take place at the Ukrainian Institute of America at the Fletcher-Sinclair Mansion, 2 East 79th Street, New York, NY 10075. Online bidding will begin on October 29, 2011. The piece, Gold and Ochre Glass Persian Lip, is comprised of eleven pieces of gold and ochre glass with ebony lip wraps, and stands at 31 x 26 x 17 inches tall.

All proceeds of the auction will benefit Phoenix House Academy’s Hoving Family Cloister Garden in Westchester, New York. Over the past year, groups of Phoenix House Academy clients have worked with professionals from the Horticultural Society of New York to develop and implement a design plan to transform the empty courtyard at the Academy into a vibrant garden. The Garden project has been spearheaded by Phoenix House Foundation Board Member, Nancy Hoving, and will honor Nancy’s unwavering support for Phoenix House as well as her husband, Thomas Hoving.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, the Garden continues to come to life, providing Phoenix House Academy clients with meaningful, real-life experiences and exposure to horticulture, agriculture, and the professional working world. When it is complete, the Garden will serve as a deeply therapeutic place where young men and women can experience nature and enrich their healing process.
