Thanks to the leadership of an outstandingly generous extended family, it was a truly magical holiday at Phoenix House New England’s programs in Greater Boston. Phoenix Families and Phoenix House Dorchester both serve vulnerable women with small children, and for many this was their first Christmas in a safe and sober environment.
Knowing of the services Phoenix House provides for these mothers – emergency housing at Phoenix Families and residential family treatment at Dorchester Center – members of this family decided to take Phoenix House’s Adopt-A-Family Campaign to heart and “adopt” a number of mothers and children in the Dorchester programs. The Secret Santa family provided beautiful new clothing, outerwear, shoes, boots, sleepwear, toiletries, and toys for the mothers and kids in Phoenix House’s care, bringing comfort and joy to those in greatest need; is there a better way to celebrate the holidays?
Phoenix Families and Phoenix House Dorchester Center will soon be joined by Phoenix House Quincy Center in serving the people of Greater Boston. Quincy Center, opening in January 2015, will provide Acute Treatment Services (also known as detox) and Clinical Stabilization Services in a 64-bed facility with separate units for men and women. Transitional support services are provided in Holyoke for those in early sobriety, while residential rehabilitation is provided for adults and adolescents in Springfield. Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient treatment are available in Springfield for adults and teens requiring a less intensive mode of care.
