Clients of Phoenix House Long Island City Center train weekly with members of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, in movement, voice, speech, and acting technique. Together they create material based on a chosen subject, refine and rehearse, and then often perform their scenes at Phoenix House Career Academy, Phoenix House Long Island City Center, or the theaters of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in midtown Manhattan. Weekly acting classes have various themes and exercises. Our clients have studied the process to develop a character, reinforcing growth as an actor and their own personal growth. Exercises focus on listening skills and trusting your partner, mirroring and puppetry, breathing, as well as master voice and speech. Our clients and the Stella Adler actors describe their passion for this project in this exclusive video.
Acting, as is life in recovery, is about making choices, being present in the moment, and discovering your most authentic inner self. These are amazing classes of hope and inspiration for all participants. We are truly grateful for this partnership.
