Monday, May 12, was a perfect day for golf, and the second annual Phoenix House Celebrity Golf Tournament was the perfect way to enjoy it. Held at the prestigious Cypress Run Golf Club in Tarpon Springs, one of Florida’s finest courses, the tournament featured 18 foursomes, each joined by a celebrity guest.
Following a day of friendly competition on the course, a buffet dinner brought everyone together to hear a moving talk by a graduate of Phoenix House Citra Center and to engage in fierce bidding for some wonderful silent auction items, several of which were donated by Board members Jill Collins and Herb Goetschius, and by Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation. An exciting raffle added to the fun, and the day ended on a happy note, but with a reminder of the very serious purpose the event supported.
