Phoenix House Citra Center Campus Director Lorraine Franciose congratulates this week’s Captain Recovery.

When it comes to battling addiction, one of the most important components of recovery is motivation. At Phoenix House Citra Center, this concept is encouraged through a weekly award called “Captain Recovery.” The award is given to an individual who has shown an outstanding commitment and growth in his or her fight against addiction. What makes this award so special is that the recipient is not decided by the staff of the facility, but by their peers in treatment. The decision is made during the weekly get-together called “Sunday Wrap-Up,” where the residents conduct a vote through anonymous ballot. The winner is then awarded a cape with the Captain Recovery logo and earns bragging rights for the week. At the end of the week, the “Captain” has the pleasure of announcing the new Captain Recovery and bestowing the cape.

At Phoenix House Citra Center, located in the rolling hills of Marion County, our goal is to facilitate recovery through promoting a healthy mind and body. Citra Center is a multifaceted facility providing evidence-based treatment for substance abuse as well as co-occurring mental health issues. Along with Citra Center’s gender-specific treatment services for adult men and women, the facility features a swimming pool, tennis and volleyball courts, a fitness trail, and workout equipment.

At Phoenix House, each individual is guaranteed the highest quality of care, which we deliver with professionalism and respect.
