Phoenix House of the Mid Atlantic bowling team

What a great Sunday our women clients in recovery had at Demeter House! Thanks to the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance last Sunday they played bowling and spent an afternoon full of food, fun and smiles!

Every year the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (formerly American Society of Women Accountants or ASWA) hosts a bowling event for the women at Demeter House. The goal of this event is to empower our clients by showing them that women struggling with addiction and past trauma can have fun in sobriety.

Newcomers to recovery often feel the fear of not having fun again in life, and it can be very hard for them to imagine their life without drugs or alcohol. This is why sober activities like these are such a great opportunity for persons in recovery to feel good again without using alcohol or drugs.

The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance was formed in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. The mission of the organization is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.

Demeter House is an innovative, residential substance abuse treatment program located in Arlington Virginia, where women can focus on addiction treatment in a comfortable, gender-specific program. Guided by qualified professionals, women learn step-by-step how to manage their addiction and regain their health and control over their lives. Demeter House serves the entire Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and can accept up to 20 women and their children at a time. Children are cared for by qualified childcare staff while mothers are in treatment. Women leave the program feeling healthy, secure, and ready to build positive lives for themselves and their families.

Thank you Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance team!

Every day, Phoenix Houses of the Mid-Atlantic helps hundreds of people who are suffering from addiction in 17 programs in Virginia, Maryland and DC. Find out more about our programs and services, or call us today at: 1 888 671 9392.
