The Queens Consortium on Alcohol and Substance Abuse (QCASA) recently held their Sixth Annual Symposium, with Phoenix House Chief Medical Officer Andrew Kolodny, MD as their keynote speaker (at left, with Phoenix House’s Shawn Mason, Community Outreach Liaison/Business Development Manager, also a QCASA board member). The Consortium serves Queens County in collaboration with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). Their goal is to promote substance abuse awareness, healthy lifestyles, and social change, addressing issues impacting communities affected by drug and alcohol abuse. Community partners and providers from surrounding boroughs attended the event , which drew close to 250 attendees.
