It’s not every day that a young man graduates from high school and is feted by an important state organization, all in the space of a few hours. But on a memorable evening in late June, Alex, a young completer of Phoenix House Academy in Dublin, New Hampshire, was honored at the annual meeting of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation—and then rushed off to receive his high school diploma!

Alex shared his painful story of teen substance abuse, which started when he was only 13, in the video below created by the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. He credits Phoenix House Academy in Dublin with helping him turn his life around.

Phoenix House New Hampshire provides residential treatment with individualized academic tutoring at Phoenix House Academy in Dublin for teens whose lives and education have been derailed by substance use. Adolescents needing a less intensive level of rehabilitation receive outpatient counseling at Phoenix House Keene. For youngsters who are at risk of developing a drinking or drug problem, we offer Self-Assessment Saturdays, a six-session program which helps kids assess their own level of involvement with harmful substances. Phoenix House New Hampshire also provides residential treatment for adults at facilities in Dublin and Franklin, and both outpatient and intensive outpatient care in Keene. For those who have completed treatment but need the support of a sober living environment, recovery housing is available in Northfield.
