On a warm Saturday evening in late August, a group of young clients from the Derek Jeter Center at Phoenix House in Tampa, Florida, were treated to a night they will never forget.  Thanks to the generosity of New York Yankees great Derek Jeter and his Turn 2 Foundation, ten adolescents, accompanied by five staff members, enjoyed an outing to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg to see the Tampa Bay Rays take on the New York Yankees. The evening’s fun started with a festive gathering at the Derek Jeter Center, and then everyone traveled together to the game. The Phoenix House group enjoyed a wonderful drug- and alcohol-free night of fun and excitement as they watched the thrilling match. Although the Yankees lost to the Rays, everyone present described the outing as a “night to remember”—and a moment to forget the personal troubles that brought them together at Phoenix House.

Turn 2 Foundation’s generous support of Phoenix House was instrumental in the establishment of the Derek Jeter Center.  With the Foundation’s help we are able to provide comprehensive outpatient services to adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse, along with services for co-occurring mental health issues. Phoenix House Florida also provides outpatient treatment for adults and teens at the Brandon Outpatient Center, and gender-specific residential treatment for adult men and women at Phoenix House Citra Center in Marion County.  Through all these programs, Phoenix House strives to provide the highest level of service, delivered with professionalism and respect for each individual in our care. Our goal is to promote healthy minds and bodies, while helping to rebuild families damaged by addiction.

Phoenix House Florida would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the generosity of Turn 2 Foundation for providing this revitalizing night for the teens at the Derek Jeter Center, and reinforcing Phoenix House’s message that great fun can be had without drugs or alcohol.

If someone you love is struggling with substance abuse issues, please call us at 1 888 671 9392. We are always here to help.
