Our compassionate experts help teens get back on track socially, emotionally, and academically.
Situated in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood in south central Austin, we offer residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment services for teen boys and girls ages 13 – 17 who struggle with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health problems. In our evidenced-based programing, residential clients participate in 12-step work for substance abuse and both cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed therapy to address the underlying co-occurring issues that may be present.
Clinical Services Include:
- Master’s level clinicians deliver 12 Step work, Cognitive Behavorial Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapies

Our adolescent residential and intensive outpatient services accept some managed Medicaid, CHIP, Department of State and Human Services, and Northstar plans.

How do I get admitted to your program?
Please call 1 888 671 9392 to schedule an assessment with a professional who will help determine what level of care is right for you. We will then recommend the type of program that best fits your needs and either assist with scheduling Phoenix House enrollment or make recommendations for another treatment provider.
What type of professionals will be working with my loved one?
We employ master’s-level clinicians as the primary therapists for all of our clients. Adolescent Residential Services
The Phoenix House Academies for Youth offer intensive substance abuse and mental health services with high school academic programs in CARF-accredited facilities.
Prevention and Education Services
Phoenix House’s prevention and education services highlight the dangers of drug use, reinforce self-esteem, and educate youth and adults to make positive choices.
Adolescent Outpatient Services
Phoenix House adolescent programs provide treatment in a safe, supportive environment that gives youth and their families a chance to break free from substance abuse.
Adult Outpatient Services
Our adult outpatient services are a comprehensive array of substance abuse and mental health programs--all using evidence-based practices--delivered in safe, supportive, CARF-accredited settings.
Phoenix Rising Music Program
The Academy’s brand new on-site recording studio is available to clients who want to explore musical outlets.
Fully-accredited on-site high school education is available to residents, provided by the Austin Independent School district.
Alex started experimenting with marijuana in middle school, and eventually progressed to prescription drugs and heroin. Finally, he got help at our Phoenix House Academy in Dublin, New Hampshire. Treatment “changed my life,” he said. “It showed me that you can be happy without the use of drugs.”
Mothers and their young children live together in our warm, welcoming Mother and Child Programs, where addiction treatment is offered alongside parenting education, day care, and other services—because families recover best when they recover together.

Phoenix Rising Music
With the help of Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Kara DioGuardi, teen clients in our Phoenix Rising Music Program tell their stories and heal through song. In their own words, our state-of-the-art recording studio and expressive arts program exemplifies “love, vision, joy, and determination.”
At our Mother and Child Program, photographer and educator Rob Goldman collaborated with our clients to tell their stories using portraiture and recordings. This multimedia “Just Like Me” Project puts names and faces on the struggle of addiction and shares the miracles of recovery, self-discovery, and hope.
Pop superstar Beyoncé was so moved when she met our clients that she and her mother, Miss Tina Knowles, created this innovative program at our Phoenix House Career Academy in Brooklyn. At the Center, we teach clients valuable vocational skills for a new career—and a new life—in recovery.
