Phoenix House Springs into the Season in Dallas, Helping Kids Struggling with Addiction and Letting them Start Anew

Published in Texas, Texas Events, Texas News on September 30th, 2009

Phoenix House kicked off spring with a fabulous event celebrating everything new on Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Board Director Robert Weatherly assembled a who’s who group in Dallas at Kelly and Mark Bunting’s beautiful home in Highland Park. They graciously opened their home to the 200 guests that came in support of Phoenix House. Guests enjoyed delectable hors d’oeuvres by Laura’s Event Catering and listened to tunes mixed by DJ Lucy Wrubel, but the real stars of the event were the children of Dallas, the “at risk” kids in the community who need support the most.

Donating time, raising awareness and giving back to the cause was the message being sent by Robert Weatherly and Phoenix House. Everyone was encouraged to visit – to see firsthand the successful model which has helped so many who have walked through the doors of Phoenix House in Dallas since 2002. Caren McGratty, Director of Development at Phoenix House says, “When you visit the Phoenix House Hill A. Feinberg Academy and hear the kids’ stories you learn what happens in treatment and hear the struggles and successes of these children. And you can see the impact of treatment and why helping them is a gift to the community of Dallas.”

Assisting with arrangements for the event were, Annika Cail of 521 Events, Leah McCann of Leah McCann PR, both are members of the Phoenix House Associates. The event was a huge success and the Phoenix House Associates promise more to come. For more information contact Caren McGratty at cmcgratty@phoenixhouse.org.

    • What's an intervention?

When people engage in self-destructive behavior, they often don't realize that they need help.
