About this Service
Our adult medical and social detoxification and stabilization services first help each individual to safely detoxify and then connect them to the next level of care: either residential, sober living or outpatient services. Throughout the process, every client is treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.
The services include a comprehensive array of evidence-based, clinically proven practices delivered in either clinically or medically monitored CARF-accredited settings. We utilize buprenorphine, suboxone and other medications for detoxification as well as maintenance. Phoenix House facilities providing detoxification services may also offer one or more of the following services: outpatient or residential care, medical and dental services, family therapy, job training, psychiatric evaluation, mental health services, referral services, recovery support services and specialized women’s, veterans or Latino services.
All services are delivered in a step-down fashion, diminishing in intensity as the client progresses through treatment. After detox/stabilization, clients can enter residential treatment, sober living facilities, intensive outpatient (9 hours or more a week) or traditional outpatient treatment (fewer than 9 hours a week).
The individual (and family where appropriate) participate in a private, comprehensive assessment and evaluation to determine the services needed . The client and intake worker agree on the type and location of treatment.
The first goal is a safe, complete detoxification. Then, the client and their counselor, together, identify additional problems to be addressed, client goals and how to achieve them. A primary goal is continuation of treatment, either in a residential, sober living or outpatient setting.
A variety of services are delivered, including clinically-managed detoxification and social detoxification, individual, group and family counseling, relapse prevention, and drug/alcohol education. Often, other specialty services are also offered at each facility.
Linking to the next level-of-care
The most important goal after a safe detoxification is linking the client to the next level of care: residential, sober living or outpatient services. All clients receive services along a continuum of care, tapering participation as they begin to take responsibility for their recovery.
When clients complete their formal treatment, they have opportunities to engage in a recovery plan that may include support groups, participation in recovery center activities and alumni group services.
