From models of recovery like Elton John and Robert Downey, Jr. to the tragic losses of “The 27 Club,” stars are no strangers to substance abuse and the effects it can have on their lives and careers. And it’s not just the musicians and movie stars whose fame fuels addiction; pro athletes, politicians, and writers experience similar struggles in the spotlight. But we can’t believe every celebrity addiction story we see in the media…or can we?
In our next Twitter chat, co-hosted once again by our expert partners at The Fix, we’ll find out. We’re inviting celebrity participants, journalists, and “regular Joes” like you to weigh in on how fame and media affect addiction and recovery—and vice versa.
The chat will take place on Wednesday, September 12 from 3PM-4PM EST. To participate, just log on to Twitter and search for our new chat-specific hashtag, #popchat. That will show you what chatters are saying, and then just make sure to include #popchat in your own questions and comments as well.
We hope you’ll join us for our biggest chat yet! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions and to RSVP.
