The Phoenix House Lake Ronkonkoma Mother and Child Program welcomed members of the Long Island Quilters Society to their facility bearing gifts for our program. The Society donated a wonderful assortment of handmade quilts for the babies and moms to enjoy. We are truly grateful to our new friends for thinking of us and very touched by their generosity. We admire the beautiful patterns, handiwork and thoughtful craftsmanship of these quilts, which will bring hours of joy and warmth to our thankful clients.
Our Mother and Child Program supplies a nurturing environment for women entering treatment while pregnant or caring for their young children. As mothers engage in treatment, their children are cared for at our onsite Child Development Center, receiving pediatric care and well-baby evaluations.
The Long Island Quilters’ Society is a non-profit group dedicated to promoting the interest of quilting, encouraging celebration and preservation of the quilt heritage, and offers lessons to its members. The Quilters give back to their community through many charitable projects – they have delivered quilts to assorted hospitals, pediatric centers, and to wounded military personnel for over 26 years. We salute their incredible talents and extend our thanks!
