A perfect, sunny Sunday morning at Tampa’s Al Lopez Park provided an ideal backdrop for Phoenix House Florida’s participation in the inaugural Run 4 Recovery, benefiting our partner agency, Westbridge. The race, co-sponsored by Phoenix House Florida, offered adult participants the choice to run or walk the 5K (3.1) mile course overlooking the park’s beautiful lakes.
Our team of runners (left to right), Francisco Ramos, Sonya Bufe, Angie Sottile-Phillips, Shana Blount, and Matt Best, all sported colorful Phoenix House T-shirts. Our staff also had a highly visible presence at the event’s related Wellness Expo. Providing information on our varied services for adults and teens, answering questions from concerned families, and distributing Phoenix House Literature offered real hope to families and individuals dealing with drug or alcohol issues.
But it wasn’t all work for Team Phoenix House. The race was a great way to let off steam and get some healthy exercise. And when the day was over, two of our team members won medals in their age categories!
