“The Gun Project” is another collection of new original work developed by the clients of Phoenix House Career Academy and current students from the conservatory program of The Stella Adler Studio of Acting, staged on April 24, 2013. This emotional, thought-provoking performance was riveting – guests attending the performance at The Stella Adler Studio in Manhattan were very impressed, giving the ensemble a rousing welcome and very vigorous standing ovation at its conclusion. An informative Q&A session was conducted after the performance, led by Colin Greer, President of The New World Foundation and Stella Adler board member, with actors and audience extending the dialogue on this important topic. It was a fabulous evening of thoughtful works and great acting from the group. We are truly proud of the entire cast. The Stella Adler Studio’s philosophy on theater is very similar to Phoenix House’s philosophy of treatment, stressing the importance of community and giving back. We are grateful for the opportunity to have Stella Adler’s Tommy Demenkoff, Tom Oppenheim, and the conservatory’s actors as friends and partners in promoting a healthy, therapeutic outlet for our clients.
