Phoenix House Benefits from Kara DioGuardi’s CHICAGO Performance

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Kara DioGuardi visits with teen clients at the Phoenix House Academy of Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, October 11, Phoenix House will benefit from a special performance of Broadway’s Tony Award-winning hit musical CHICAGO, starring leading-lady Kara DioGuardi.  Presented by Givenik.com, the show will donate a percentage of its profits to four of Kara’s favorite charities, including Phoenix House, Columbus Citizens Foundation, Malaria No More, and Sister Domingas and Friends Foundation.

Kara DioGuardi is the creator of our pioneering Phoenix Rising Music Program, which teaches students how to compose, perform, and record their own original music in state-of-the-art recording studios.  She spearheaded the construction of the professional recording studio at our Phoenix House Academy of Westchester, and has since built studios in three other Phoenix House Academies, including the Academy of Austin, the Academy of Los Angeles, and the Academy of Citra, which will hold its grand opening this fall.  These studios give teens a new sense of confidence, pride, and achievement, as well as a place to express their creativity and emotions, as they focus on achieving healthy, drug-free lives.

Phoenix House is so grateful for the incredible support of Kara and our friends at Givenik.com.  Offering Broadway tickets at discounted prices online, Givenik allows users to select a charity of their choice to receive 5% of the ticket price.  Phoenix House recently became one of the charities listed on Givenik, and we are ecstatic about this unique opportunity for people to jointly support Phoenix House and local Broadway shows.

Visit Givenik.com to purchase tickets to the October 11 benefit performance of CHICAGO at the Ambassador Theatre (219 West 49th Street) and have a portion of the ticket price donated to Phoenix House.
