Hoving Family Cloister Garden update and Appreciation Day at the Phoenix House Academy of Westchester

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011
A special Appreciation Day luncheon and student assembly were held at the Phoenix House Academy of Westchester, recognizing the accomplishments of our student gardeners, Horticultural Society of New York staff, and Phoenix House Board Member Nancy Hoving, as construction continues on the Hoving Family Cloister Garden project. Horticultural Society team members overseeing the project presented a gift to Nancy, the students received gifts, vests, and a special certificate commemorating their progress as they complete Level Two Apprenticeship in the Horticultural Training Program. A special art poster specially created by the students was  presented to Nancy at the outdoor ceremony. Our students are learning numerous hardscaping and horticultural skills:  transplanting large trees, pond construction, soil remediation and infrastructure carpentry and masonry skills. The campus courtyard has undergone a major transformation since last summer; if you would like to make a contribution to the Hoving Family Cloister Garden, please click hereHoving Family Cloister Garden Appreciation Day at Phoenix House Academy of Westchester
