Phoenix Houses of New York’s Military Services Programs have grown since its start in 2010 at Phoenix House’s Brentwood Campus. Since then, hundreds of clients and their families have benefited from our program; we strive to help even more people seeking help in the future. Our staff, counselors and specialists are always on the move, spreading the word with outreach at veterans affairs centers, courts, and shelters across Long Island, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. We constantly look ahead to expand the availability of services – building relationships, collaborating with key agencies, seeking new grants – all in an effort to provide vital treatment services for our nation’s bravest. From humble beginnings, we now offer programs at both Brentwood and New York City locations; we’ll be celebrating our first year in Manhattan soon!
The Military Services Program at Phoenix House Brentwood Campus offers residential and outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment services. Clinical support services, family therapy, couples counseling, assistance in accessing veterans benefits, and onsite medical and dental care are also available to our clients. Vocational training and counseling are available, as well as access to a computer lab and business center for participants.
Our program at the Phoenix House Jack Aron Center, on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, offers outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment services, and peer-based group and individual counseling. Our counselors help clients to regain skills, strength, and self-esteem as they readjust to civilian life. Assistance in accessing veterans benefits and community resources are also available.
Phoenix House’s Military Services Programs are designed with the capacity to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicide prevention, and the unique needs of current and former military personnel and their family members.
