Clients in the Men’s Residential Program at Phoenix House Citra Center recently enjoyed a Family Day to remember! Planning an entertaining and energetic day for clients and their families brought an atmosphere of hope, inspiration, strength and brotherhood to the men’s unit.
You could feel the anticipation as the men set up the day of the event. Carnival-like activities were organized for the children, making it a fun and memorable time for loved ones to spend together. Family Day was filled with a sense of compassion, love, encouragement, and optimism on the part of families, as well as clients. As one client described it, “Participating in this activity made me feel a sense of pride and purpose. For once in my life I was not taking from other people but rather giving back. Though I don’t have children of my own, I was able to feel I played a part in the process of reuniting my fellow brothers with their families. It feels good to finally make a difference in life.”
